*THE FOUR PILLARS OF A HEALTHY SPINE: Emotions, Strength, Balance, Flexibility

July, Monday 3rd

The spine is a masterpiece of design containing over one hundred joints and associated muscles and ligaments.

How then, is it possible that so many people suffer from debilitating pain associated with the spine? There are many factors that influence spinal health, including social and psychological factors, as well as strength, balance and stability.

In this workshop we will address these factors in a practical manner, leading to positive changes both on an emotional and functional level. We will discover that an understanding of spinal evolution leads to a fresh approach to movement and exercise for the spine. Our new embodied understanding will allow for all daily movement and exercise to benefit spinal health.

Learn :

*DIGEST FOR LIFE : Organ health for your stomach.

July, tuesday 4th

Organ Imagery for Health, Alignment and Flexibility. Filters for Life: Organ health for your Kidneys. The organs of our body not only carry our physiological functions: The vital work of maintaining, renewing, and reproduction. They also serve an important role in the support of posture and movement. Yet in the western world, organs are generally not considered when it comes to training the body. The organs fill out space in our torso and skull and from “joints” with other organs, bones, and muscles. Compression, suction, and suspension forces relate all these structures to each other. Knowing where and how, combined with dynamic imagery will provide you with a whole new avenue for improvement and well-being. The Franklin Method distinguishes itself by focusing on imagery, self-touch, and movement exercises that can be used by anyone in any setting. All types of imagery are used to promote movement, flexibility, strength, and general health. This course will demonstrate how organ training with imagery can improve movement, posture, flexibility, and strength; improve the organs physiological functioning; and improve stamina, digestion, circulation, moode immune function, etc. Learn: The connection between organs, strength and flexibility How the diaphragm and organs interrelate in 3-D How the organs affect mood and relaxation.

How Long ? 2.5 hours - 1pm to 3:30pm

*THE ART OF BREATHING

July, tuesday 4th

Many of us agree that breathing is very important not just for survival but our overall well being.  Yet most of us don’t really know how it actually works.  What is good breathing, what is the design, and what can prevent its proper activation?  Your breathing influences the health of a variety of aspects like posture, heart, digestion, pelvic floor, emotions, learning ability, and energy levels.

In this workshop, we will come to understand the design, structure, and movements of the diaphragm, ribs, deep abdominal muscles and how they can work together to strengthen and free up both body and mind.  Through easy to do imagery, touch, voice, and movement exercise we will explore the mechanics and physiology of breathing.  We will explore the wave pattern of breathing up and down the spine and experience how we can use our breath as our positive energy thermostat.

Learn :

  • How breathing works and what it means to breathe well
  • How posture and breathing are related
  • How to use breathing to improve your endurance
  • How to breath correctly in the Pilates exercises

How Long ?   3 hours -  4:30 to 7:30pm
